It's a Big World Out There

When I first considered getting a bunny, I went to a few pet shops to take a look at the bunnies on display. Many of them were either over/under-priced (ranging from $20?! to $500+) or they were really tiny. Of course customers will prefer tiny cute babies to large full grown bunnies. This resulted in baby bunnies being removed from their mothers at premature ages (less than 2 months). Many of them will tend to die due to the lack of mother's milk & care.

Luckily for myself and perhaps Misty, she's already an adult bunny when I brought her home. Adopted, that is. There are so many bunnies out there waiting to be adopted. All this while, hiding in the wilds or at a kind fosterer's home.

Every year, there are about 1000 bunnies being abandoned at parks, void decks, and wherever possible places you can think of. Hopefully for 2006 and beyond, this number will decrease significantly.

The New Year

It's 2006 and Misty has been with me for more than 4 months. As promised, I managed to take a picture of her when I was getting her ready for grooming. I flipped her over and tried to stroke her head to make her feel at ease so that she will slowly lower her head and lie back.

Here are 2 of the tools that I use. The nail clipper is used to clip her nails while the comb is used to comb out any matted fur. I also use pure cornstarch powder on areas where there might be wetness or to make the combing easier.

She did try to flip back quickly a few times and I had to console her that everything was ok by patting her again. Hope that she enjoys her stay and thanks to everyone who checks back regularly on her. Will try to post more pics and updates of her whenever possible.
